Born on Gozitan soil

This letter of thanks is a year overdue. My partner and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the hard-working maternity unit at Gozo General Hospital, where our son Jonah was born last year.

We had travelled overland from Bournemouth, UK in the hope that our son would be born on Gozitan soil. We both have long-standing connections with Gozo, with grandparents, siblings and close friends living there and we try to come at least once a year. When we were told by our friends that Gozo general maternity was less crowded and more personal than our own over-worked NHS hospital we jumped at the chance to take this trip of a lifetime.

The doctors and nurses were fantastic and took very good care of us. The whole experience was one we will never forget and I cannot think of a better hospital for our son to be born in. It may not be as modern or as beautiful as other hospitals but the care and attention to detail were first class and this is down to the hard work and passion of the staff. Thank you to all of them.
